Simply put, play-based learning is an approach in which children learn and explore through social interaction and play. Traditional academic content can be incorporated into various types of play- be it cooperative games, imaginative activities, or artistic expression- and we provide ample opportunities for learning and play to coexist side by side. We feel this type of structure best helps children at this age learn and grow in all of their developmental areas including their cognitive, language, social-emotional, and physical development. While we love to incorporate elements of many different educational philosophies (such as outdoor nature education, or Montessori inspired independent learning and practical life skills) in our hearts we believe that play is crucial!
No! Students do not need to be fully potty trained in the green room, although a pull-up is preferred so all students can practice using the bathroom independently.
Yes! Our red room is perfect for an older five year old. Our program aims to support students’ individual needs, and the learning activities and routines in the red room will help prepare students for kindergarten, regardless of the age in which they enter.
Students need to be fever, vomit, and diarrhea free (without medication) for 24 hours before returning to school. We trust parents to use their best discretion with colds - if your child is clearly sick, let them rest!
Our green room is capped at 1:6 (two teachers with up to 12 kids). Our blue and red room can accommodate 1:10.
We require up-to-date immunization records by the beginning of the year.
