Christopher Robin Learning Center

At Christopher Robin Learning Center, we offer a nurturing environment for students to explore, grow, and build a lifelong love of learning. We are a play-based program, and believe that children learn best through open-ended exploratory play and learning opportunities where students can engage in meaningful ways with others. We aim to develop the whole child through sensory exploration, music, gross motor activities, storytelling and art, while laying the foundation for kindergarten readiness by seamlessly integrating academic concepts into our daily play-based activities.

Our environment provides a safe space for children to learn how to share, solve problems, take risks, build friendships, and develop a strong sense of self. We believe all students are unique, capable, and important, and we partner with families to tailor our approach so that students reach their own personal goals and milestones.

Classrooms

Green room

~ 2.5 - 3.5 years old

Our green room is the perfect introduction to school for first-timers! Children at this age are curious, playful, and dynamic. In this setting, we encourage creative thinking and imaginary play with large sections of open-ended play indoors and outdoors. We offer various sensory activities, art projects, fine motor, gross motor, and language development activities during this time to engage our littlest learners and help them grow and explore their world. Students focus on sharing, turn-taking, and learning independence skills that will serve them well through their school career.

Blue room

~ 3 - 4 years old

Kids in our blue room are inquisitive and gaining independence! While students have been introduced to concepts of shapes, numbers and letters, the blue room offers more exposure to those activities via small group games, activities, and projects during free choice time. This class has more of a focus on fine motor skills and activities that promote hand strength in order to prepare them for later handwriting skills. Students also learn to engage collaboratively in circle time, where students practice their speaking and listening skills within a group as they talk about weekly themes, the calendar, and the weather.

Red room

~ 4 - 5 years old

Our red room is our most senior class, with students that are getting ready for kindergarten. We aim to increase students' confidence at this age through more hands-on experiences with academic concepts through play. Kids in this class prepare for elementary school by learning how to participate in and rotate through daily learning centers. We aim to develop student’s social-emotional skills, independent work skills, self-management skills and pencil grip so that we send your kids to kindergarten feeling prepared, positive and proud of all that they can do!

Daily experience

Our day is structured to expose students to various settings that promote development in all areas, including language, self-care, fine and gross motor, social-emotional skills, and artistic expression. We follow a daily rhythm that allows for students to learn and feel comfortable within a predictable routine.

🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Circle time

Students gather and sit together for a developmentally appropriate block of time. Depending on the classroom, students may read a story, talk about the calendar, weather, or weekly theme, or practice writing their name. This time promotes speaking and listening skills, turn-taking, and community building.

💡 Free choice

Students have an uninterrupted block of time in which they can make choices, engage with others, and explore their interests. A variety of toys, games, art materials and books are available, as well as teacher-planned art projects, learning activities, and sensory-stations.

🍏 Snack

The whole school gathers for a school provided snack consisting of a cracker/carbohydrate and fresh fruit.

💃 Music & movement

Our daily music circle is a multi-age setting that cultivates a whole-school sense of belonging. We sing songs, dance, learn to use instruments, and participate in movement activities such as using a balance beam or parachute.

🏃‍♀️ Outside

Our playground provides a variety of activities for children to engage in, including our play structure with slide, play house, trikes and ride-on cars, sandbox, chalkboard, and more!

🥪 Lunch

The whole school gathers for lunch together, provided from home.
